Rewinding system with measuring rack – Pay-off, take up and everything in between
The need for rewinding arises in numerous process steps within the wire and especially the cable industry. Today, we present a rewinding system equipped with various measuring techniques, primarily designed for product testing.
Structure:
Both the pay-off and the take up are designed as pintle winders for spools with a flange diameter of 250 – 630 mm and a maximum spool width of 475 mm. Thanks to a lifting and lowering mechanism, the winders can be loaded at ground level, with the spool automatically adjusted. The pay-off and take up achieve a maximum winding speed of 600 m/min. A special feature is the talcum extraction unit, which is integrated into the winding area of the pay-off.
Following the dual dancer unit, which operates within a tension range of 1 – 10 N (Dancer 1) and 5 – 50 N (Dancer 2), the measuring device section ensures optimal product quality control. This section includes a lump detector, a diameter measurement device, an insulation tester, and a contactless length measurement system. If an error, such as a lump, is detected by the calibrated devices, the system automatically stops, and the affected product section is moved into a specially illuminated work area. This allows the operator to precisely inspect the defective section.
To ensure the most error-free operation with minimal downtime, the rewinding system is equipped with a remote maintenance module. This enables us to access the system at any time to take further action if necessary.
Rewinding systems have been part of KURRE Systems’ product portfolio in various designs for decades. By the way, they are also available in a fully reversible version, meaning rewinding can be carried out in both directions with full functionality.
