Flange-driven winder for heavy loads

Machines

Today we are introducing our new addition to the family of flange-driven winders, available since 2023. The new AB-W-1250 XL and AUF-W-1250 XL models score particularly well in the areas of cost efficiency and work safety. The decisive reason for this new development was the customer’s desire to process higher spool weights in an ergonomic way.

Safety and Handling

Our redesign placed a strong emphasis on occupational safety and the easy handling of spools. A key innovation is the ground-level spool loading and unloading feature. Operators simply roll the spool into the winder at ground level, requiring only rough positioning – the machine handles the rest. This advancement is particularly beneficial for managing heavy spool weights, representing a significant improvement in our new design.

More Information

Increased Load Capacity and Reduced Footprint
We have elevated the previous maximum load capacity to accommodate spools weighing up to 2,500 kg. To support this substantial weight, our engineers have developed a bespoke new plastic compound. Remarkably, despite these increased loads, the winder effortlessly maintains a withdrawal speed of up to 50 m/min.

Our new winders ensure the secure processing of spools with diameters ranging from 800 to 1,250 mm and a maximum width of 930 mm. Notably, these advancements are achieved within a compact footprint, requiring only approximately 3 m² of space for installation.

Cost Efficiency
With its enhanced parameters, the new winder offers significantly greater flexibility and provides a cost-effective alternative for processing heavy spools in slow-running production processes. It operates at approximately 50% of the cost compared to conventional pintle or portal winders.

Areas of application
The new type of winder can be used in various areas such as braiding, taping, stranding and heat treatment.
